Certaldo

Certaldo

The town of Certaldo, built of pink brick and set in the attractive Elsa Valley, may have been the birthplace of Giovanni Boccaccio. It was certainly the place in which he spent the last few years before his death. The Casa di Boccaccio (Boccacio Museum) in the upper walled town has been rebuilt, having been almost totally destroyed during the war.
