Colle di Val d'Elsa

Colle di Val d'Elsa has a lower and an upper town. Colle Alta, the upper town, is of great medieval architectural interest. Arnolfo di Cambio, who built the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence (seepp78-9), was born here in 1232. In the modern lower town shops sell locally made crystal glass.
